Drinking tea may help to prevent Coronavirus?

Updated: Mar 2, 2020

Lately, there was an article titled “Drink Tea May Help Prevent Coronavuris” published on Hangzhou Daily News by Zhenjiang Disease Control and Prevention Center.

The article says that tea water can effectively kill new coronavirus outside the cell and inhibit the replication of new coronavirus in the cells. Comparing to the new coronavirus not treated with tea water, the ones treated with tea water showed that the virus' nucleic acid proliferation decreased by 10,000to 100,000 times. Therefore, tea has a good extracellular killing effect on the new coronavirus. Moreover, the inhibitory effect increases with increasing tea concentration.

Some people are happily following the statement and getting enthusiastic about tea drinking, but many people do not believe this or even get angry because they feel like they have been fooled by those authorities just like the story of Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid (ingredients: Honeysuckle, Scutellaria, forsythia). Some medical professionals claim that the above results are merely based on lab cell testing and cannot be replicated in the living body.

The article has been deleted due to the controversy.

Do you believe that drinking tea may help prevent coronavirus? At least I hope you do not get angry.

For me, it really doesn't matter, I have always been a tea drinker and enjoy all kinds of tea. I drink tea every day anyway and experience generally known health benefits. I do not need to rely on any authority or media to tell me what to believe in. At uncertain times like this when coronavirus is stirring up a lot of uneasiness, a cup of tea does help me feel more relaxed.

A cup of tea for you too? I mean the real tea, not the iced sweet tea.
